I have no idea what happened but I do know how it was corrected and thought I would pass it along just encase someone else was having the same problem. I was just on the verge of saying the heck with it.

I did get a message that I had a newer version of Nik Collection installed, I just clicked on the install anyway as I figured I had nothing to loose. Then I downloaded/installed the new Nik collection again (lightroom already back on the computer), checked it still the same, and thought huuumm lets try installing the old version over the new version and BAM there it was working like a pro. While the support for high-resolution monitors is great to finally see in Nik. The new version of the software, Nik Collection 2 comes with over 40 brand new presets and support for high-resolution monitors. I must have installed/deleted lightroom and Nik collection downloads a couple dozen times. Today DxO released its first major version of its Nik Collection suite that it acquired from Google last year.

I then went to windows update to make sure I had everything I needed, found a couple of needed updates and installed them. I tried just about every combination that I could think of with no change.

It also affected Color Efex Pro 4 and Silver Efex Pro 2 in the same way, blocks of different color textures. No image appeared in the editing area, just blocks of different colors (textures).
